The Doña Ana Mountains offer the most expansive network of trails in the Las Cruces area. The “DA’s”, as locals call them, are very popular with mountain bikers. The Horny Toad Hustle mountain bike race happens in September and group rides are every Tuesday evening.
The Dona Ana Mountains also feature some great moderate, multi-pitch rock climbing on the Checkerboard.
The Monumental Loop bikebacking route passes through the trails in the DA’s. This route is over 300 miles long and tours the whole of the Organ Mountains Desert Peaks National Monument.
