What: Box Canyon Campout: An Introduction to Bikepacking in OM-DP
Here’s your opportunity to learn more about bikepacking in our National Monuments. We’ll make sure everyone is prepped and ready at our introductory meeting 10 days before the campout. You’ll be able to ask all your questions, check your bike, meet the trip leaders, and even borrow some gear at this meeting. Then on Sept 29 we’ll load up and ride at a relaxing pace to Box Canyon where we’ll camp for the night. The ride is 10 miles one way with 2 of those being on dirt roads and trails. Box Canyon is on the historic Butterfield Stage Route and has multicolored cliffs and various volcanic formations. Once at camp you’ll have the opportunity to hike, laugh, take pictures, eat, and make new friends. Following a night under the stars we’ll ride (mostly downhill!) back to town and celebrate at High Desert Brewing Company.
This event is part of Monuments to Main Street Las Cruces. More events can be found here.
