The Doña Ana County Trail Summit is the first of its kind. The vision of the trail summit is to bring all stakeholders: policy makers, land managers, legislators, organizations, and trail users together to discuss the future of trails in  Doña Ana County. The trail summit will be a bridge between the strong foundation of planning already accomplished by many entities and the enthusiasm of trail organizations and users to improve trails. The results of the trail summit will be on the ground projects as well as future collaboration on trail projects and planning. The trails summit is brought to you by the Southern New Mexico Trail Alliance with assistance from the National Park Service’s Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program award. Over the last year, SNMTA and NPS has been working with the City of Las Cruces, Doña Ana County, Mesilla Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Bureau of Land Management, and the State of New Mexico to obtain key stakeholder information and plan the summit.

We invite you to attend the trail summit and continue this effort to shape the future of trails and outdoor recreation in Doña Ana County. The summit is open to all stakeholders: policy makers, land managers, legislators, organizations, and trail users.
The night prior to the event, Nov. 7th, will be a presentation by Peter Livingstone about the first thru-hike of the Rio Grande Trail in September. This event will be held at the Southwest Environmental Center at 6pm. Food and drinks will be provided.
This event is sponsored by the Southern New Mexico Trail Alliance and the Friends of the Organ Mountains – Desert Peaks.
Please invite anyone that may be interested in this effort. Also, please print and share the flyer. More details are included in the flyer and agenda.
You can view past plans in the county at this link. These plans form a strong foundation for the summit and the future of implementing trails.
If you have not done so already, please RSVP to southernnmtrailalliance@gmail.com
