Monumental Trails Day – Doña Ana Trails

What: This volunteer trail work day is part of the Monumental Trails Program, a partnership between the Southern New Mexico Trail Alliance and Friends of Organ Mountains – Desert Peaks.

Volunteers will meet at the main Doña Ana trails trailhead on Desert Wind Way. This is located off of the Doña Ana exit of Interstate 25. We will work until about 12pm but anyone can show up or leave as they wish. Bring a lunch and more water and snacks if you would like to work longer. Trail work will consist of brushing and improving drainage. No experience is needed. Tools, water, and instruction will be provided. Please bring snacks, water bottle, and any other personal items you need to be comfortable and safe on the trails.

Where: Doña Ana trails in the Organ Mountains – Desert Peaks National Monument

Directions: From the Doña Ana exit #9 on I-25, turn right and travel east for 0.2 mi. At the stop sign, turn left onto Del Rey Blvd, then turn right onto Calle de Las Lomas. After ½ mile, turn left onto La Reina Rd, then take a right onto Desert Wind Way. Follow Desert Wind way as it passes through a gate and turns to dirt. The trailhead and parking lot are ¼ mile down on the left side of the road.
