September is Monuments to Main St. month in Las Cruces. The whole month is a celebration of our National Monuments and public lands. Bikepacking is great way to explore these landscapes. Join SNMTA members on a bikepacking overnighter where we will ride from town out into the Organ Mountains Desert Peaks National Monument and camp overnight. Details on the ride are below.

If you are not familiar with bikepacking but would like to join the ride, please join us to learn and help setup your bike and gear. Below are the details.

Bikepacking Overnighter
Sept 16  – 17
Start: Sept. 16, meet at 4:00 at Outdoor Adventures
End: Sept 17, finish around 12:00 in Las Cruces
Route: Roads and Irrigation Ditch Banks to the trails in the Doña Ana Mountains. The route will consist of paved roads, dirt paths, and single track trail. The ride should be easy difficulty for anyone that is comfortable mountainbiking and a good introduction to mountain biking and bikepacking for beginners.
Distance: 15 miles one way
Provisions: Food/Drink stop in DA at Circle K. Stop for food on the return trip Sunday morning. Plan to bring camp food for Saturday night, snacks, and water for the night and morning. No water is available in the Doña Ana Mountains.

When: Aug 31 or September 7 at 7:00 PM. Please RSVP.

Summary: Bike check, bag/packing tutorial, gear list, etc. Bring your bicycle, gear, food etc. that you think you will need for the overnighter. We will help make it all fit on your bike and answer questions.
